Scope
Today the world faces one of its greatest challenges. A terrible disease has put the entire scientific community on a career for achieving results to minimize the social and economic impacts caused by the COVID-2019 pandemic. In this scientific race, the importance of collaboration between agents of the scientific community was verified, the collection, tabulation and manipulation of research data for the elaboration of didactic research materials. Given this scenario, it is worth asking, how can data scientists help in understanding the phenomena that surround us? How can collaboration and data sharing between researchers help in the development of humanity? What are the technological, economic, political and social challenges of facing the phenomenon of fake news? With the aim of discussing and suggesting possible solutions to these issues, we invite you to the 2nd EAI International Conference on Data and Information in Online Environments (DIONE 2021).
DIONE 2021 is an event that continues the collaboration project between the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) and the Post-Graduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Santa Catarina / Brazil. This collaboration was born in response to the growing interaction between the information sciences, the communication sciences and the computer sciences. DIONE 2021 aims to bring together researchers and professionals from academia and industry to present theoretical proposals and practical solutions in the treatment, processing and study of data and information produced in online environments, the latest trends in the analysis of network information, media metrics social, data processing technologies and open science. An interdisciplinary space will be provided to improve cooperation between data science, data engineering, big data, research evaluation, network science, open science, scientometrics, sociology of science and citizen science.
This second edition will be held at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in the city of Florianopolis (SC), Brazil. Florianópolis is known as the “Magic Island” by the historic folklore and legends of the island. It is the capital and second largest city of Santa Catarina state. Florianópolis is also well known for its beautiful landscape and the more of 42 beaches surround the island. The city is located in the south of Brazil, where you can see the mountains and well-preserved Atlantic Forest. The summer in Florianopolis is very hot and the city is full of options to have good times with colleagues, friends and family. Florianopolis has a large tourism infrastructure and qualified attractions attracting tourists all around the world.
